Why We Rise By Lifting Others

Have you ever actually stopped and thought about how someone else made you feel in a specific moment? What is it inside you that is strengthened when another person feels happier because you let them feel that way? The human condition, perhaps?

When a person you love or care for opens a door to a brighter, more uplifting emotion, he or she often invites you to feel a certain way. We hold that door open for them when we are brave enough to see past ourselves. We hold that door open for them when we seek past ourselves in search of higher ground, that is, in search of higher character. We hold that door open for them when we sacrifice greed and ego for love, joy, happiness for both, and respect. When we hold that door open, our human condition is spared from a primal base and rather buttressed to a second, or even higher, level. We become stronger, we become tougher, we become wiser, often times without knowing it. Our own human condition becomes fortified with not only dignity, but a deep value of faith and stronger ability to navigate through the unknown, making us better prepared to face what lies ahead. The self and mutual respect we gain from treating each and every relationship as if it were another chance to lift one another is immeasurable.

Why is it that we rise by lifting others? It’s complicated to say the least. However, the sacrifice of ego and strengthening of love that we make and receive each are, indeed, a part of the beauty inside the human condition. Perhaps the wise have succeeded in this already, but indeed, by rising to embark upon each day, there is hope that each and all of us are capable of reaching others in this way. Happy lifting and best wishes.
