Gratitude For Life: Celebrating Moments Part II

How can we celebrate those moments which we recognize as dear, sweet, joyous, satisfying, and uplifting? The inherent value of life is made evident by our reactions to such moments, whether these be positive or negative, such as making another person’s day or losing a loved one. What can we do to celebrate the better moments? Here are 5 ways to celebrate your feel-good moments:

1.  Let the moment soak in
Take your time when you’ve got something to celebrate.  Maybe soak it in by listening to nice music, taking a warm shower, treating yourself essentially in ways that really get you feeling appreciative and grateful.  Gratitude, when coupled with our highest (and even lowest) moments, really makes a world of difference in our lives.

2.  Share via an inspiring social media post
Use of social media platforms to inspire one another is a wonderful way to celebrate a feel-good moment.  Expressing feelings for your occasion, small or big, and connecting to your friends via heartwarming words might go a long way, perhaps more than you think.

3.  Pay it forward by initiating kindness to another person
When you’re feeling good, why not use the moment as motivation to ‘pay it forward?’  Using your strengths, you can make someone else’s day this way.  Being kind never gets old.  Maybe you could give a compliment, give a hug, or send a heartfelt thank-you note.

4.  Share with friends and family
Sharing good news with friends and family can make your feel-good news that much sweeter.  Those who care for you will be very happy in the least.  Having a celebratory meal (if possible) with friends and family or getting into a group hug can be ways to mark the occasion.

5.  Treat yourself, small or big
If you can’t spend money, maybe take a nice walk outside with a friend, loved one or by yourself.  If you can splurge a bit, maybe buy yourself a warm hot meal on a winter’s day.  Or if it’s a bigger occasion, like a birthday, you might consider buying yourself a dozen roses or a sweet delectable crepe.  Either way, you’ll feel the lasting effects of celebrating by associating the moment with the things you like (or love) most.

Celebrating via these 5 ways and more can allow us to appreciate our lives and living, in general, that much more.  Perhaps the best kept secret to living is, in fact, remembering to celebrate our moments in these ways and, in turn, instill gratitude for life.
